ABOUT HANDMADE WEB DESIGN STUDIO
Empathy, meet strategy.
That’s what Handmade Web Studio is all about — blending strategic thinking with relational depth, crafting your digital presence with the same level of mindfulness you bring to your practice.
ABOUT MAGGIE
Why web design for therapists?
After wandering a bit lost through my 20s—working in web design, pivoting to social work, and then returning to the tech world—I finally realized something: social work is who I am, while web design is what I love doing. So, I put the two together! Now I get to apply the creative and technical skills I enjoy to work that feels meaningful and aligned. I wasn’t sure I’d ever get to say this… but I truly love what I do.
Professional Background
From therapy horses to therapist websites— my path to a career that blends design, healing, and connection.
THE HANDMADE APPROACH
The same values that led me to social work now shape my work as a web designer.
e
I don’t just design for therapists—I design as someone who’s been a therapist.
I hold a Master of Social Work from Smith and have worked in clinical settings, which has helped me appreciate the values, language, and everyday realities that shape therapists’ work. These experiences help me approach web design in a way that honors both the practical side of your practice and the deeply relational work you do.
s
All those years in tech taught me that usability matters… a lot.
With a degree in Human-Computer Interaction from Stanford and seven years as a UX designer in the tech world, I bring both academic insight and hands-on experience to creating websites that are intuitive, user-friendly, and accessible. And, because I can code, I have the flexibility to build exactly what’s needed— so your site delivers a tailored user experience instead of being confined to standard templates.
h
That said, I know the secret ingredient to a standout website is human connection.
I’ve been told my superpower is that I really listen to my clients. I truly care about the relationships I build, and I often hear that the collaborative process feels supportive and rewarding. The result is a website that genuinely reflects who you are, that you’re proud of.

Am I sick, or just anxious?
A newsletter for anyone who’ve asked themselves this question too many times to count.
My own mental health challenges and healing journey led me to study Social Work, and ultimately, to design websites for therapists. In my newsletter, Am I Sick or Anxious?, I share my ongoing attempts to understand and make meaning of my struggle with health anxiety and panic disorder.
“8am and sun pours in through my window. I reach over to my nightstand, eyes still half closed, and fumble around until I feel the familiar smooth, cylindrical texture. I shove the thermometer in my mouth, ensuring it’s perfectly centered, so far back that the weird flap of skin under my tongue begins to ache. I wait...”
